ශ්රී ලංකාව ශ්රී ලංකාව(හෙළයින්ගේ දිවයින,හෙළද්වීපය,හෙලය) අවුරුදු විසිපන්දහසකට එහා ගිය ඉතිහාසයක් තිබෙන හෙළ දිවයිනේ ප්රජාවගේ ජීවිතයත් සමග බැඳුනු විශ්ව කර්ම වෛද්ය විද්යාව හෙළ වෙදකමයි.අද වන විට සමහරුන් අවුරුදු තුන්දහසක් පමණ ඉතිහාසයක් තිබෙන ආයුර්වේද වෛද්ය විද්යාව සහ අවුරුදු දෙදහස් පන්සීයටත් අඩු ඉතිහාසයක් තිබෙන යුරෝපියානු වෛද්ය විද්යාව සමග සසඳන්නට යාමම මෙම හෙළ වෙදකම විනාශය කරා යොමු වීමට එක් හේතුවකි. මෙම හෙළ වෙදකම පැවත එන්නේ පරපුරෙන් පරපුරට .අදත් ඒ ආරක්ෂාකාරීව සමහරුන් තැන්වල රැඳී පවතී.නමුත් ශ්රී ලංකාව තුළ එම වෛද්යවරුන් ආරක්ෂා කර ගැනීමට හෝ අනාගත පැවැත්මට සංරක්ෂණය කිරීමට කිසිදු වැඩපිළිවෙලක් තාමත් නැත.එය සමහර පාලනයන් විසින් ආයුර්වේද වෛද්ය විද්යාව ලෙසින් නම් කොට පටලවාගෙන සිටිති. මේ සටහන තබන අප පරපුරද හෙළයේ එම මහා විද්යාව මොහොත් හෙලවෙදකම පරපුරෙන් පරපුරට දායාද කොටගෙන අදටත් සමාජයට එමඟින් සේවය කරන පරපුරකි. ඇස් වෙදකම ,ගෙඩි වෙදකම , ස්නායු වෙදකම,සර්ප වෙදකම,යන්ත්ර මන්ත්ර හදි හූනියම්,1970 , 1980 දශක වනතුරු අප පරපුර තුළ සුරක්ෂිතව පැවතුණත් අද වන විට සර්ප වෙදකම සහ ස්නායු වෙදකම පවතී.අප පරපුර ඇහැළපොළ වරදමුණ වික්රමසිංහ චන්ද්රසේකර ඉලූක්පිටිය නින්දගම් ලත් විජයසුන්දර මුදියාන්සේලාගේ පරපුරයි.සර්ප වෙදකම අදටත් ඉලුක්පිටිය වලව්වේ කුඩා බණ්ඩාර ඉලූක්පිටිය ,සේන විජය සුන්දර යන වෙද මහත්වරු විසින් සිදුකරයි.කෙසේ වෙතත් විශ්මිත හෙළ වෛද්ය ක්රමය රැක ගැනීම අනිවාර්ය වේ.එය හෙළයේ මහාතිලකයයි.
