Interwiki links on Templates

The interwiki position used by my bot for adding new interwikis is definied relative to the position of already existing interwikis. If the initial creator included them from a subpage my bot will add new interwiki at the subpage, too. Merlissimo (talk) 20:15, 21 සැප්තැම්බර් 2012 (යූටීසී)

First a note: I am running a java bot, not the python bot that most interwiki bot operators use. So the following explenation is specific to my bot.

My bot does not have any specific settings for template namespace expect that it currently does not add new interwikis if there are no existing ones.

First the script reads langlinks from api (e.g. [1]) and not from page source as the pwb. Then my algorithm decides which changes have to be done (e.g. adding a dewiki langlink to siwiki:Template:Ntsh). The bot checks the wiki specific interwiki sorting order and knows that the de-langlink has to be added right before the existing en-langlink. Now my bot searches the complete page source for the expected en-langlink syntax and if found it adds the de-langlink previous to the en-langlink. If the en-langlink is not found at the main page/template the included parts of included subpages are searched instead until the en-langlink is found and the de-langlink can be added relative to the en-langlink. (here my bot has placed the new ca-langlink before the en-langlink which was found on a subpage). If the expected en-langlink is not found the new de-langlink is not added.

This algorithm does not need any project specific settings and should always be save. The python bot uses a project specific mapping template->subpage from its config file instead. Merlissimo (talk) 16:20, 22 සැප්තැම්බර් 2012 (යූටීසී)
