1. Backgroundවිශාල පෙළ

Sri Lanka Planning Service was established in 1985 by the Government of Sri Lanka as an All Island Service. The major goal of the establishment of the planning service is to form a professional service in the country which is specialized in policy formulation, planning, and implementation of development programs, to accelerate Sri Lanka's economic growth and social progress.

2. Major responsibilities[1]විශාල පෙළ

The major responsibilities of the officers of the Sri Lanka Planning Service are the formulation of strategies and their implementation, planning and implementation, operation and evaluation of policies/plans/ programs/projects, required for the socio-economic development of the country.

3. Method of Recruitment[2]විශාල පෙළ

3.1 Open Recruitment

 3.1.1 Recruitment Grade: Sri Lanka Planning Service – Grade III
 3.1.2 Qualifications 
   Possession of a degree with first class or second class obtained from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission
                                                                   OR
   Possession of a degree from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission or postgraduate Diploma with course duration of 
   not less than one year awarded by a University recognized by the University Grants Commission or a Training Institute established by a 
   Parliamentary Act.

3.2 Limited Recruitment

 3.2.1 Recruitment Grade: Sri Lanka Planning Service - Grade III
 3.2.2. Qualifications
   Possession of a degree from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission
                                                                   AND
   Should have completed not less than five years of uninterrupted, permanent and satisfactory period of service in a permanent post in 
   Government or Local Government Service which carries a salary scale of MN-1-2006(A) or above
