රොමෙනියාව ගිණිකොණින් මධ්‍යම යුරෝපය ද, උතුරින් බෝල්කන් අර්ධද්වීපය, ඇතුලත හා පිටත කාර්පේතියන් ආරුන්තුව හා කළු මුහුදට මායිම්ව පිහිටා ඇත. ඩැනියුබ් ඩෙල්ටාව මුළුමනින්ම එම ප්‍රදේශය තුල පිහිටා ඇත. වශයෙන් එහි ප්‍රදේශිය තුලම පිහිටා ඇත. රොමෙනියාව, හංගේරියාව හා සර්බියාවට බටහිරින් ද, යුක්රේනය හා මොලඩොවා සමුහාණ්ඩුවට ඊසාන දෙසින් හා බල්ගේරියාවට දකුණින්ද මායිම්ව ඇත. රොමෙනියාව ස්වකීය සංගමයක් ලෙස නැගී ආ අතර 1859 අලෙක්සැන්ඩර් ජෝන් කුඩා කුමාරයා යටතේ පැවැති මොල්ඩාවියා හා වොලඩියාහි ප්‍රතිපත්ති යටතේ විය. එය 1878 වර්ෂයේ දී ඔටෝමන් අධිරාජ්‍යයෙන් නිදහස ලබා ගත්තේය. 1 වන ලෝක යුද්ධයේ අවසා‍නයේ ට්‍රැන්සල්වේනියා, බ්‍රතොපීනා හා බෙස‍රාබියා රොමෙනියා රාජධානිය සමඟ එක් විය. 2 වන ලෝක යුද්ධයේ අවසානයේ එහි ප්‍රදේශයන්හි කොටසක් රුසියානුවන් විසින් අත්කරගත් අතර, රොමෙනියාව සමාජවාදී සමුහාණ්ඩුවක් වු අතර, වෝසෝ පනතේ සාමාජිකයෙක් ද විය. 1989 අයන් කර්ටන් බිඳ වැටීමත් සමඟ රොමෙනියාව දේශපාලන හා ආර්ථික සංශෝධන අරඹන ලදි. දශකයක පමණ කාලයක් පැවැති විප්ලවයෙන් පසු එරට ආර්ථික සංශෝධනය වන 2005 පහල බදු අගයයන් හා 2007 ජනවාරි 01 දා යුරෝපානු සංගමයට එකතු විය. යුරෝපානු සංගමයේ පහලම ආදායම ලබන රටක් වන ‍‍රොමෙනියාව නව ‍සංශෝධනය සමඟ වර්ධනය වේගය වැඩි කර ගත්හ. එය වර්තමානයේ ඉහල මධ්‍යම ආර්ථිකයක් ඇති රටක් වන අතර, මානව වර්ධනය අතින් ද ඉහල තැනක් ගනී. එහි 9 වන විශාලතම ප්‍රදේශය හා 7 වන විශාලතම ජනගහනය (මිලියන 21.5) ක් යුරෝපානු සංගමයේ සාමාජික රටවල් අතර ඇත. අගනුවර හා විශාලතම නගරය වන්නේ බුකාරෙස්ට්ය. එය යුරෝපානු සංගමයේ 6 වන විශාලතම නගරය වන අතර 2007 වන විට ජනගහනය මිලියන 1.9 කි. යුරෝපානු සංස්කෘතික අගනුවර ලෙස ට්‍රැන්සල්වේනියානි නගරයක් වන සිබියු තෝරාගන්නා ලදි. 2004 මාර්තු 29 දා රොමෙනියාව නේටෝ හා සම්බන්ධ වු අතර ලැයින් සංගමයේ ද සාමාජිකයෙක් වුහ. ඒ සමඟම ෆ්‍රැන්කොෆෝනියා, OSCE එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ හා සහායක සාමාජිකයෙක් වශයෙන් CPLP හි සිටී. රොමෙනියාව අර්ධ ජනාධිපති එක්සත් රාජ්‍යයකි.

රොමෙනියාව ගිණිකොණින් මධ්‍යම යුරෝපය ද, උතුරින් බෝල්කන් අර්ධද්වීපය, ඇතුලත හා පිටත කාර්පේතියන් ආරුන්තුව හා කළු මුහුදට මායිම්ව පිහිටා ඇත. ඩැනියුබ් ඩෙල්ටාව මුළුමනින්ම එම ප්‍රදේශය තුල පිහිටා ඇත. වශයෙන් එහි ප්‍රදේශිය තුලම පිහිටා ඇත. රොමෙනියාව, හංගේරියාව හා සර්බියාවට බටහිරින් ද, යුක්රේනය හා මොලඩොවා සමුහාණ්ඩුවට ඊසාන දෙසින් හා බල්ගේරියාවට දකුණින්ද මායිම්ව ඇත. රොමෙනියාව ස්වකීය සංගමයක් ලෙස නැගී ආ අතර 1859 අලෙක්සැන්ඩර් ජෝන් කුඩා කුමාරයා යටතේ පැවැති මොල්ඩාවියා හා වොලඩියාහි ප්‍රතිපත්ති යටතේ විය. එය 1878 වර්ෂයේ දී ඔටෝමන් අධිරාජ්‍යයෙන් නිදහස ලබා ගත්තේය. 1 වන ලෝක යුද්ධයේ අවසා‍නයේ ට්‍රැන්සල්වේනියා, බ්‍රතොපීනා හා බෙස‍රාබියා රොමෙනියා රාජධානිය සමඟ එක් විය. 2 වන ලෝක යුද්ධයේ අවසානයේ එහි ප්‍රදේශයන්හි කොටසක් රුසියානුවන් විසින් අත්කරගත් අතර, රොමෙනියාව සමාජවාදී සමුහාණ්ඩුවක් වු අතර, වෝසෝ පනතේ සාමාජිකයෙක් ද විය. 1989 අයන් කර්ටන් බිඳ වැටීමත් සමඟ රොමෙනියාව දේශපාලන හා ආර්ථික සංශෝධන අරඹන ලදි. දශකයක පමණ කාලයක් පැවැති විප්ලවයෙන් පසු එරට ආර්ථික සංශෝධනය වන 2005 පහල බදු අගයයන් හා 2007 ජනවාරි 01 දා යුරෝපානු සංගමයට එකතු විය. යුරෝපානු සංගමයේ පහලම ආදායම ලබන රටක් වන ‍‍රොමෙනියාව නව ‍සංශෝධනය සමඟ වර්ධනය වේගය වැඩි කර ගත්හ. එය වර්තමානයේ ඉහල මධ්‍යම ආර්ථිකයක් ඇති රටක් වන අතර, මානව වර්ධනය අතින් ද ඉහල තැනක් ගනී. එහි 9 වන විශාලතම ප්‍රදේශය හා 7 වන විශාලතම ජනගහනය (මිලියන 21.5) ක් යුරෝපානු සංගමයේ සාමාජික රටවල් අතර ඇත. අගනුවර හා විශාලතම නගරය වන්නේ බුකාරෙස්ට්ය. එය යුරෝපානු සංගමයේ 6 වන විශාලතම නගරය වන අතර 2007 වන විට ජනගහනය මිලියන 1.9 කි. යුරෝපානු සංස්කෘතික අගනුවර ලෙස ට්‍රැන්සල්වේනියානි නගරයක් වන සිබියු තෝරාගන්නා ලදි. 2004 මාර්තු 29 දා රොමෙනියාව නේටෝ හා සම්බන්ධ වු අතර ලැයින් සංගමයේ ද සාමාජිකයෙක් වුහ. ඒ සමඟම ෆ්‍රැන්කොෆෝනියා, OSCE එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ හා සහායක සාමාජිකයෙක් වශයෙන් CPLP හි සිටී. රොමෙනියාව අර්ධ ජනාධිපති එක්සත් රාජ්‍යයකි.
