Sri Lanka Time (SLT) is the time zone for Sri Lanka. It is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of GMT/UTC (UTC+5:30).[1]
The Sri Lanka Time reverted on 2006 April 15 00:00 to match Indian Standard Time calculated from the Allahabad observatory in India 82.5 ° longitude East of Greenwich, the reference point for GMT.
The entire country shares the same time. Since 1880, Ceylon or Sri Lanka Time has varied between GMT+05:30 to GMT+06:30 h.

යුධ කාලයේ අවශ්‍යතාවය මත 1942 ජනවාරි 05 දින සිට 1942 අගෝස්තු මස 31 දින දක්වා ග්‍රිනිච් වේලාවට වඩා පැය 06 කින් වැඩි වේලාව භාවිතා විය.
1942 අගෝස්තු මස 31 වනදා සිට 1945 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 14 වනදා දක්වා ග්‍රිනිච් වේලාවට වඩා පැය 06 මිනිත්තු 30 කින් වැඩි වේලාව ලංකාවේ සම්මත වේලාව විය.
නැවත 1945 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 14 වනදා සිට ග්‍රිනිච් වේලාවට වඩා පැය 05 මිනිත්තු 30 කින් වැඩි වේලාව ලංකාවේ සම්මත වේලාව විය.
1996 මැයි මස 25 වන දා නැවත ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සම්මත වේලාව ග්‍රිනිච් වේලාවට වඩා පැය 06 මිනිත්තු 30 කින් වැඩි විය. එය 1996 ඔක්තෝබර් මස 26 වන දින පැය 06 ක් දක්වා සකස් කරන ලදී.
2006 අප්‍රේල් මස 14 වනදා රාත්‍රී සිට නැවත වේලාව සකස් කළ අතර දැන් නව සම්මත වේලාව වනුයේ ග්‍රිනිච් වේලාවට වඩා පැය 05 මිනිත්තු 30 කින් වැඩි වේලාව වේ.
